A Steinway Baby Grand is Her Other Baby

Alice Woodrum was focusing on her daughter's piano lessons and then realized it was time to start her own.
As long as I can remember from childhood on, it was my ultimate dream to play the piano and study music. Odd, since none of my family members displayed any musical talents.
I was given an accordion. Every good little Austrian girl had to have one of those and my musical experience started under the guidance of a retired brass band conductor from Vienna. Loved it, but became tired of playing waltzes and shoa plattlers (don’t ask).
I came to the United States in 1974 and quickly purchased an accordion to chase the homesick feeling away. After my beautiful daughter reached the age of 4, I had decided to introduce her to the wonderful world of piano and signed her up for piano lessons. She blossomed, and received the Creative Artist Award for auditioning at Kent State Univerity.
Needless to say, I was living my dream through my child and realised that was my turn and I needed to lay off my child and start piano myself. One of my dear clients made herself available to give me instructions and get me ready for piano performances, guild auditions, and ribbon festivals.
I loved every minute of it and took it a step further to write and perform my own compositions. My Steinway baby grand is my baby. A wonderful addition to our household. I’ve been taking lessons for 15 years and inspired my husband to revisit his love for piano as well.
