Hello and welcome to our very first post on the vendor forum section of Music After 50! We are very excited to be involved with Music After 50 and look forward to many lively and interesting discussions going forward.
First allow me to introduce myself. My name is Doug Larsen and I am president of Completely Oblivious, Inc, maker of Pointless Picks®. My background involves engineering and music which led me to develop the unique and patented shape of our Pointless Picks®. I have also been a guitar player for nearly 30 years and, am finally in the process of starting my very first band! (more on that in future posts)
The inspiration behind the unique shape of our picks came from a challenge to reinvent the ubiquitous triangle guitar pick to reduce dropping and keep it from rotating in my hand while playing. For much of the past 25 years the majority of my music playing took place in back yards around inspirational but dim light of bonfires. As an amateur songwriter, this was the place I often tried out new material for the very first time and sometimes dropped my pick at inopportune times. SO FRUSTRATING.......
After far too many prototypes to remember, Pointless Picks® were born. They have a unique round shape and grip rings to prevent dropping. Because they have no point to rotate out of the way, completely round Pointless Picks® improve muscle memory and make learning to play faster while increasing the accuracy of those who already play. The grip rings reduce dropping and promote correct grip.
Since their introduction Pointless Picks® have helped players of mountain dulcimers, ukuleles, mandolins, as well as bass, electric and acoustic guitars improve their playing all while getting great tone. Many new players both young and old find Pointless Picks® improve their skills and increase their rate of learning a new instrument.
